The TA CPD Hub is an online professional development platform built exclusively for Teaching Assistants. It provides bespoke, high-quality CPD designed around the real realities of the TA role – not generic training repurposed from teacher content.
The platform is built around three pillars: Learning, Practice and Belonging, with the goal of creating a culture of support and continuous growth for TAs across England and Wales.
The platform was created by Amjad Ali – a teacher with nearly 20 years of experience, a qualified SENCO, CPD and Inclusion Lead, speaker, consultant, and author of Special Educational Needs: A Little Guide for Teachers. Amjad has been delivering CPD at least once a week for the last 10 years while remaining in school leadership, keeping him grounded in the day-to-day realities of schools.
The platform was born from a genuine belief that, while TAs are described as the “bread and butter” of our schools, our actions don’t match those words – they receive very little targeted CPD, limited career progression, and inconsistent support. This platform is designed to change that..
Both. The core content is designed around the fundamentals of teaching and learning that apply across all phases. There will be some bespoke resources specific to primary and secondary settings, but the vast majority of the platform is equally relevant regardless of school type.
• Role drift – TAs being used to cover lessons rather than support learning
• Lack of clarity – Many TAs are left to simply “work it out” with minimal induction
• Generic CPD – Training designed for teachers, delivered to TAs
• System pressure – TAs plugging gaps rather than focusing on impact
• Limited career progression – Little structure or recognition for TA development
• Rising complexity – More SEND needs in classrooms without the training to match
The platform dashboard includes the following sections:
• CPD Modules Library – Monthly 10–15 minute video modules, each followed by a quiz and automatic certificate upon completion
• Resource Library – Practical tools, templates, strategy cards and pupil profile guides organised by category (classroom management, behaviour, literacy, numeracy, AI & technology, career development, and more)
• This Month’s Webinar – A live monthly webinar with Amjad and/or guest speakers
• Webinar Library – All previous webinars recorded and available to watch back
• Reflection Journal – A built-in CPD log using the “Try, Refine, Ditch” framework, downloadable as a PDF
• Community Space – A private online forum for TAs and SENCOs to post questions and share advice
This is intentional. TAs typically have very limited non-contact time; perhaps one hour of PPA or admin time, and that hour will already include parent calls, emails, and student catch-ups. A 45-minute video simply isn’t realistic.
The platform is built on the principle of low effort, high impact: short, focused modules that TAs can actually complete, rather than lengthy sessions that never get started. Think of it as “one tweet a week”, consistent, digestible learning that builds over time rather than a one-off adrenaline session that’s quickly forgotten.
Early adopters will launch with three core modules to start:
• Adaptive Teaching Essentials
• Executive Functioning
• Behaviour for Learning
This is a deliberate choice – “if we prioritise everything, we prioritise nothing.” More modules will be rolled out monthly, ultimately growing to 20, 30, or more over time. The platform will update and evolve continually, like an app you look forward to returning to
The Reflection Journal is a built-in CPD log available on every page of the platform. After watching a module or attending a webinar, TAs can click the journal and record their thoughts using Amjad’s Try, Refine, Ditch framework, noting what they’ll try in the classroom, what they want to refine, and what isn’t working for them.
The journal tracks entries over time, shows how many hours of CPD have been logged, and can be downloaded as a PDF, making it easy to share with a SENCO or line manager as evidence of professional development.
The Community Space is a private, moderated online forum within the platform – exclusively for subscribed TAs and SENCOs. Members can post questions, share ideas and get advice from peers across the country.
Because access is only granted through a school or individual subscription, you can trust that everyone in the community is there for the right reasons. Amjad also hosts a live monthly Q&A session where members can join and ask questions directly.
Each month, there will be two live events:
• Live Q&A session – Hosted by Amjad in the first half of the month
• Guest webinar – Featuring Amjad and invited speakers in the second half of the month
All webinars are recorded and moved into the Webinar Library afterwards, so you never miss out – even if you can’t attend live or are in a different time zone.
Once a school subscribes, the SENCO (or nominated admin) is given a management dashboard. From there they can:
• Add team members by email or shareable link
• Allocate specific CPD modules to individual TAs, or let everyone access all modules
• Skip modules for TAs who have already demonstrated strength in a particular area
• Monitor their team’s subscription and billing details
A school can also add additional members such as teachers or assistant heads who want to stay informed about what TAs are learning.
Yes. Schools are welcome to add teachers as members alongside their TAs. This can be particularly valuable for teachers who want to understand what their TAs are learning and how they can best support each other in the classroom. Speak to Katie (katie@thelearningline.co.uk) about how to include additional seats for teaching staff as part of your subscription.
Yes – this is one of the things the platform directly addresses. The “separation effect” is where a TA becomes so dominant in their relationship with a pupil that the student begins to rely solely on the TA, losing connection with their teacher entirely.
Modules on the platform will cover how TAs and teachers can work effectively together, how to ensure the teacher remains the expert in the room, and how to avoid pupils drifting into learned helplessness, where they won’t engage unless the TA is directly present.
Pricing is structured to be genuinely accessible and will be based on school size:
• Very small schools – less than 10 seats
• Small schools – 10-15 TA seats
• Middle-sized schools – 16-20 TA seats
• Larger schools – 21-30 TA seats
For schools with 30 + TAs, please contact Katie for a quote katie@thelearningline.co.uk
• Multi-Academy Trusts – Bespoke trust packages available
• Learning partnerships / federations – Tailored packages available
• Individual TAs – £7.99 per month for those whose school hasn’t subscribed
All subscriptions renew annually. Contact Katie for a quote tailored to your school or trust.
Schools joining during the beta launch phase will benefit from a reduced early adopter rate, in recognition of the fact that the platform is still growing its content library. As the platform expands, pricing will increase, but early adopter rates will be held for year one as a thank you to those who join the journey from the beginning.
Yes. An individual TA subscription is available at £7.99 per month. The goal is that no TA should be prevented from accessing quality CPD simply because their school hasn’t signed up, so this option has been priced as affordably as possible.
The platform is currently in beta, with early adopter schools joining now to provide feedback. Full subscriptions will be available after May half-term, with team members able to be allocated by school admins from late July / early September – ready for schools to roll out their CPD programmes in the new academic year.
