Check out these Diverse Books that @BAMEedNetwork have hosted thanks to @rapclassroom & @ksandsoconnor- We are often told teachers simply don’t know which books are out there, with a diverse character range, so the list will help you!
What to do:
With World Book Day approaching, 4/3/21 I thought this might be a good way to help inspire some ‘reluctant’ readers.
We all love films/movies?
And we have all heard many people respond about a film/movie with, ‘You should read the book!’
So… do students know that LOTS of their ‘favourite films/movies’ were actually inspired by books!
How about some of your favourite films?
In my classroom I had a display with the title, ‘They were even better as books…’
Lots of super surprised reactions from children finding out that their their/friends/family favourite film was a book first!
Some of my favourites…That (I/some) didn’t know were books…
- The Color Purple
- Jurassic Park
- Lord of the Rings
- The Hobbit
- The Silence of the Lambs
- The Godfather
- Fight Club
- Forest Gump

Create a Virtual Library?
I had great fun creating our virtual library! I’ve got 10-12 teachers recording for me so far and we have some of the books on our VleBooks and the rest in the library. Will also find some extracts read by authors + get Sixth Formers to join in (@AlwaysLearnWeb has done this!). pic.twitter.com/KtV5kddnbx

OR screen grab a library and save to your device.
log into teams
go on the 3 dots for meeting options and choose a background, then use the upload image (on teams it is a blue +)
then select it and preview.
