As the UK is currently gripped with Far Right, extremist, Islamophobic/Muslim Hate riots thinly veiled in an attempt to blame immigration for the awful deaths of 3 children in Southport we have started to take action.

A thread of some of the significant, racist incidents that took place during the riots

Education is the way forward; with the number of children seen involved in these riots and looting, we as educators have a responsibility; WHICH IS NOT TO SAY ITS DOWN TO US EXCLUSIVELY to deal with this National problem and that we have already tried this through Citizenship, PSHE, RE etc.

It is simply to say, if we did it this way before; why not try another way if it wasn’t very effective?

Resources:

Use this document- Click here. to find useful resources/ideas/blogs/links/strategies to help teach about Muslim Hate crimes, racism and begin your anti racism journey.

Here are some recently published articles too-

What to do:

Click on the link above and find a resource to make a difference. (Add your own if you know of any good resources/links too?)

Check out the resources that The BAMEed Network has collated too working with several key organisations and individuals.

  1. An editable letter school leaders can use to send home.
  1. A open letter you can sign that is being sent to the government along with
  1. A selection of books, links and websites to use to start your anti racist journey.

Finally, The BAMEed Network are also putting together a comprehensive document addressing the above, the above is an unvetted, public access document where people have signposted what they believe to be useful resources/blogs/links/ideas.
